This volume is a collection of selected papers presented at the "International Conference on Dubbing and Subtitling in a World Context" organized by the Department of Translation of The Chinese University of Hong Kong in October 2001. Gilbert C. F. Fong is professor of the Department of Translation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and heads several research projects, including the history of Hong Kong drama, movie and television subtitling, Gao Xingjian, and translated drama. An acclaimed translator, he translated many plays, including works by Gao Xingjian, winner of the 2000 Nobel Prize for Literature, into English.
