Press Reviews:
"So many choice tidbits of filmmaking information scattered throughout Soister’s text. Soister also proves the best kind of historian…will no doubt be crucial in restoring [Veidt’s] reputation and McFarland, long a specialist in publishing books on classic film topics, is to be congratulated for adding this title to their roster"—Pop Matters; "a splendid biography…a generous portion of high quality photographs…Soister deserves great credit…comprehensive"—Silents Are Golden; "meticulous piece of work…clearly been put together with both passion and dedication"—Film Review; "invaluable…profusely illustrated"—Silentera.com; "fascinating…well done, written with feeling…no one could do such a book as well as John Soister"—Little Shoppe of Horrors.
